Plein Air Day at Morgan

June 1 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$25.00

What is “plein air”? Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists.

It was a term that came about in the early 19th century and in French it means “outdoors”. Outdoor sketching has always been done even in the 18th century. It was done with charcoal, ink, pastel or chalks, and paint. So why are we doing “plein air” at the Morgan Log House? Well it is a wonderful site tucked into a quaint residential area. The site has a Log House built over 200 years ago and still standing, a grain silo from later years with a pollination garden at its base.

Join us on Saturday, June 1st, between 10:00 am & 2:00 pm. Bring your choice of medium, we will provide canvas board, paper and pencils(if you forgot). Ed will talk about pigments, inks, making brushes and cutting goose quills throughout the day.
